Diaconate Ordination - Sept 14 - 2025

16 Sep, 2025

On the 14th of September 2025, the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament was once again blessed with joy as three brothers Ajith Kerketta SSS, Merinas Joyson SSS, and Lucas (Bidhwan Shobasundar) SSS were ordained to the Diaconate. The celebration took place at St. Francis Xavier’s Chapel, Colaba, in the presence of priests, brothers, and the faithful community who gathered to witness this milestone in their journey of consecrated life.

The Diaconate ordination was conferred by Most Rev. Allwyn D’Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of Mumbai, who presided over the Eucharistic celebration with solemnity and joy. In his homily, the Bishop highlighted the virtue of weakness and the call to diaconal service as one of humble dedication to the Word of God, the altar, and the people of God. He reminded the candidates that diaconal ministry is deeply Eucharistic, a life of self-giving modeled after Christ who came not to be served but to serve.

The rite of ordination, marked by the laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration, was a moving expression of the Church’s trust in these brothers. Surrounded by their confreres in the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and the faithful of Colaba Chapel, Bros. Ajith, Joyson, and Lucas entered into a new stage of their vocation called to serve as deacons in preparation for priestly ordination. The congregation joined in fervent prayer, asking God to bless and strengthen them for their mission ahead.

The celebration concluded with heartfelt thanksgiving, music, and fellowship. The back-to-back graces of Perpetual Profession on 13th September and Diaconate Ordination on 14th September became a powerful witness of God’s work in the lives of these brothers and in the Congregation. As they step forward in ministry, the theme of hope and triumph continues to echo, calling them to live as servants of the Eucharist and bearers of Christ’s love to the world.
