Lay Aggregates National Communion (LANC) 2024
The Lay Aggregates National Communion (LANC), held from October 13 to 14, 2024, at the Pilar Animation Centre in Goa, was a significant event organized as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the presence of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament in India. This gathering brought together 197 Lay Aggregates from across the country, marking a milestone in their journey of Eucharistic devotion. It served as an opportunity for the Lay Aggregates to reflect on their mission, renew their commitments, and deepen their spiritual connection with the Eucharist, which lies at the heart of their charism.
Participants came from various parishes and communities, including Colaba, Matharpakady, Alto Badem, Alto Santacruz, Karunalayam, Siolim, Tembipada, Olaikuda, Kizvailamur, Mannurpet, Kamarajapuram, and Thiruverkadu. Their enthusiastic participation highlighted the unity of the Lay Aggregates, as they shared in the celebrations with joy and devotion. This diverse representation underscored the national character of the gathering and the shared commitment to the mission of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament.
It (LANC) began with a solemn inaugural ceremony, setting the tone for the historic event. Fr. Francisco Junior, SSS, General Consultor for Mission, delivered an inspiring opening address that outlined the mission and purpose of the gathering. His words encouraged participants to deepen their Eucharistic devotion and unite in their commitment to the charism of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament. His insightful guidance and spiritual accompaniment played a pivotal role in shaping the event. Fr. Francisco, with his deep understanding of the Lay Aggregates’ mission, led the inaugural session on the history and the eucharistic roots of the Lay Aggregates’ mission life. His presence was both inspiring and encouraging, helping participants to see their mission not just as a task but as a profound spiritual journey. His talks emphasized the centrality of the Eucharist as a source of strength, unity, and grace for the Lay Aggregates.
Fr. Francisco’s engagement went beyond just delivering talks. He interacted with participants personally, listening to their experiences and providing guidance on how they could continue to grow in their Eucharistic spirituality. His presence was a source of great joy and inspiration, reinforcing the bond between the Lay Aggregates and the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament’s global mission. His leadership during the event was instrumental in creating an atmosphere of reflection and renewal, making the gathering a spiritually enriching experience for all.
Following his speech, the event moved into the next session of presenting the reports of the lay aggerates, followed by lunch. The afternoon session was led by Fr. Peter Jayakanthan, SSS, Provincial of the Kristu Jyoti Province, who spoke on the role of the Lay Aggregates in continuing the mission of St. Peter Julian Eymard, stressing the Eucharist as a source of strength and inspiration.
A brief word of thanks also goes to Mr. Joseph, Lay Cooperator-President of the Salesians, who contributed to the animation of the proceedings. His involvement provided additional insights and added value to the discussions, ensuring that the sessions were engaging and fruitful for the participants.
The first day culminated in a beautiful Eucharistic procession which was a profound moment of prayer and reflection. The Eucharistic procession through the grounds of the Pilar Animation Centre allowed the Lay Aggregates to express their devotion to the Blessed Sacrament in a communal act of worship. It was a sight of unity and reverence, where the participants were reminded of the centrality of the Eucharist in their lives. This spiritually rich evening was followed the solemn eucharist celebrated by, Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Fernandes of Goa. Then the festive dinner, provided an opportunity for fellowship, sharing, and celebration among the Lay Aggregates and clergy.
The second day began with a series of insightful sessions that continued the themes introduced on the previous day. In the afternoon, the Lay Aggregates gathered for a time of Eucharistic Adoration, which provided a sacred space for silence, prayer, and contemplation. This adoration session was a highlight for many, as it offered a profound encounter with the Eucharist, reinforcing the central message of the gathering. The time spent in adoration deepened the participants’ sense of mission and commitment to living a Eucharistic life.
One of the key outcomes of the LANC was the election of the National and Regional Teams that would lead the Lay Aggregates moving forward. Representatives were chosen from Goa, Mumbai, and Chennai regions. This election marked a pivotal moment for the Lay Aggregates as it formalized their structure, allowing for better coordination and growth in the future. These elected leaders will play a crucial role in carrying forward the Eucharistic mission of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament.
The gathering concluded with a closing Eucharist, celebrated with deep reverence and joy. This final Mass, which brought together all the participants, was a fitting end to the event, symbolizing unity and mission. The closing ceremony was filled with gratitude for the spiritual renewal experienced during the LANC. The cultural evening showcased the talents of our Lay Aggregates and their creativity. The participants returned to their communities empowered and inspired to continue living out their Eucharistic calling, the next day after their sightseeing in Goa.

His attention to detail and dedication made this gathering a memorable one in the history of the Lay Aggregates in India. Fr. Peter Fero’s commitment to the Eucharistic mission was evident in every aspect of the event, from the logistical arrangements to the content of the sessions.
