5th Provincial chapter – Kristu Jyoti Province India
The 5th provincial chapter was six days of positive journey of the Eymardian family in India. Rev. Fr. Peter Jeyakanthan, SSS gave the inaugural address and declared the 5th provincial chapter to be open. He said the words of Pope Francis addressed to sisters gathered for their general chapter saying “Walking together is the essence of religious life”.
Everyone relived the essence of religious life by walking together, listening together and sharing together the vision and mission of St. Peter Julian Eymard the Apostle of the Eucharist. Rev. Fr. Benzy Philip Romician,SSS General Treasurer read out the letter of Rev.Fr. Eugenio Barbosa Martins, SSS superior general it said that fraternity, prayer and service must be our Eucharistic mission.
First three days all capitulars submitted their reports what they have done and their concerns for future mission in India. On the fourth day we spend much time in prayer and discernment to choose our new provincial and his team. Rev. Fr. Perter Jeayakanthan was re-elected as a new provincial. Rev.Fr. Santiago Sebastianraj, SSS was elected as a first consulter and vice provincial. Rev.Fr. UthariaNathan Arokiasamy,SSS was elected as a second consulter. Rev.Fr. Arokia Sebastian Peter,SSS was elected as a third consulter. Rev. Fr. Jesu Augstine,SSS was elected as a fourth consulter and treasurer.
We spent much time on statutes, policies, formation and mission. Several group discursion helped us to respond to the needs of the church, congregation and society. Last two days we firmed the vision mission statement and discussed and voted upon the mandates and recommendations. It was very encouraging moments for us to keep our vision and mission statement lived reality.
