Casa LaMure – Novitiate

Casa Lamure Novitiate, Badem

CASA LA MURE – Blessed Sacrament Novitiate house is in Badem. It is a small village situated to north-west of Assagao, 3 km west of Mapusa, the main market town in Bardez.

History

In the beginning, the Novitiate house was started at Colaba in Mumbai. As the numbers of novices were increasing, the need arose to move to a bigger structure with enough facilities. So temporarily it was shifted to Vinalaya at Andheri (E) in Mumbai.

It was at Agashi in Virar, Mumbai, the place for the Novitiate house was bought and one storey structure was constructed. Agashi is a small village at about 5 km from Virar station. The Novitiate house was named and known as Blessed Sacrament Ashram. Since this house partly served as a retreat house; there was a need for a full-fledged house with conducive atmosphere and so the novitiate house was shifted to Bambolim at Alto Santacruz in Goa. The novices were deprived of games and other physical activities due to unavailability of playground and lack open space.

Keeping in the mind the need for the playground and also wanting to utilize the house that was donated by Anacleto Monterio & Family on behalf of Mrs. Anna Rosario Generosa D’souza; it was decided by the present Provincial Superior and his team to shift the Novitiate house to Badem in Goa. The construction of the new Novitiate house was started in April 2017 and completed in September 2017. On 8th September 2017, Casa La Mure was inaugurated by our Provincial Rev. Fr. Jegaraj Hari Joseph sss and blessed by Most Rev.Dr. Filip Neri Ferrao, Archbishop of Goa and Daman.
